Firstly, I would like to apologize to Chinese government …. I know, camping at China Great Wall is forbidden, but pretty funny and exciting 🙂 And I will not do that again.
In Beijing hostel I met a group of travelers from all part of the world (Lithuania, Chile, France, Japan) and one local guy (China). We had fun together, drinking wine, and decided to camp on the wall. Good idea 🙂
Next day of the next day, we started our journey from Beijing. We decided to go to Jinshanling part of China Great Wall. Not far from Beijing.
Firstly, we went by some local bus from somewhere in Beijing to Jinshanling. I did not noted the location of the bus station.
Secondly, from Bus stop somewhere on highway in Jinshanling, we walked and hiked to entrance of that part of the wall. We bought a one day ticket and went inside. Left side of the wall is reconstructed part with lot of tourists, and right part was not reconstructed with no tourists. Of coarse, we took the right part and walking till we find good tower for our camping purposes and we had to be sure, the tower will not fall down.
We built tents as the first thing followed by opening wines, which we brought from Beijing. Party begun. Such a great night. It was a good feeling to sleep there as night guards in old time when the wall was protecting China from the north.
Next day, we packed our staff, and visited left tourist part because only short part of right not-reconstructed wall was accessible.
Second night we came back to our sleeping tower and drinking wine again. We did not have enough, because we lost one bottle on the beginning.
If you did hear ukulele song `Somewhere over the wall`, that were us, singing and playing ukulele in China Great Wall 🙂
